Chirashizushiちらし寿司, known as scattered sushi is a bowl of sushi rice served with other ingredients arranged nicely on top of the rice. I remember my recent trip to Tokyo, we had super yummy and fresh chirashizushi at one of the sushi shops in Tsukiji Market at about 07:00! I have never had chirashizushi before and not to mention at 07:00! I am probably more familiar with other types of breakfasts than having... 

Gyōza is one of those dishes that I will definitely order whenever I go to Japanese restaurant. Gyōza is originally a Chinese dish before becoming a staple in Japanese cuisine. Jiaozi or potsticker is the equivalent of gyōza in Chinese dish. Gyōza typically consists of ground meat, garlic, cabbage, nira (Chinve vhinces), soya sauce, and sesame oil, which is then wrapped into thinly rolled piece of dough and... 

Soba has enjoyed widespread popularity for more than 400 years in Japan. Its popularity then spread around the world. The fact of the light texture, energy giving and well-balanced nutrition of soba make it as the perfect food at all seasons. Previously, I made Soba Noodles with Five-Spice Pork Salad and Soba Noodles in Kombu Dashi with Teriyaki Salmon; both are tasty and simple recipes. This time, I wanted to try... 

  Oh.. I didn’t realise I still have some soba noodles left in the larder. In fact, there are certain things that I have almost forgotten that I bought probably a while ago! It’s good to clear out the larder from time to time. However, this time, I had to clear out my fridge, freezer and larder for mostly perishable items or almost near to the expiry date as I will be moving to a new place (still in London)... 

  Soba (??) is Japanese noodles made of buckwheat flour. There are 2 ways of serving soba, it’s either chilled with dipping sauce, or in dashi broth as noodle soup. I think I particularly like cold shoba that is served with dipping sauce known as soba tsuyu on the side. Tsuyu is made of a mixture of dashi, sweetened soya sauce and mirin.   I made soba noodle salad & five-spice pork salad for my lunchbox....
