If you don't need to spend a lot of time in your room I would recommend Hotel Margherita. The rooms are small, but the two of us stayed 3 nights for a grand total of 93 EUR. The hotel is located in Firostefani which is 5 minutes walking from Fira (the capital of Santorini). Fira offers many good restaurants and decent touristy shopping. For restaraunts I suggest Mama's and the Kotouki (sp?) Friendly Greek Tavern...both in Fira. The food is good, personnel speak good English, and the prices are unbeatable. For what to see: The volcano Nea Kameni is short boat ride away, and if you sign up for the excursion, they let you off the boat to swim in the volcanic hot springs. I would also recommend going to Oia (pronounced "Ia") to watch the sunset (they are famous for their sunsets). The island has many black sand beaches and a red sand beach as well. they have cheap bus service to and from these beaches daily from Fira (probably elsewhere too).
