Restaurant Review: WSENS

That’s the name of the restaurant where we had dinner for Arnaud’s birthday. It was supposed to be a week before but it had to be postponed as Arnaud didn’t feel well the whole week after our trip in Morocco – it was the Moroccan Macarons à la Noix de Coco’s fault or the brochettes?!

I had 2 choices of restaurant in mind, either WSENS, a French Méditerranean restaurant or BAM-BOU, a modern Vietnamese restaurant. I finally decided to go to WSENS. This restaurant is owned by the Pourcel’s brothers – owners of Le Jardin des Sens in Montpellier. So, I thought it wouldn’t go wrong with this choice.

It has some influence in the food presentation from Le Jardin des Sens. However, it’s not as the same standard of Le Jardin des Sens, of course. As our expectations grow higher from time to time, there’s nothing on the menu that give us the !WOW! factor. This restaurant is rated 3 out of 5 in comfortability based on the Michelin – London 2007 guide. Overall, we both think that the dining experience is average 6/10.

We shared the starter: Méditerranean Fusion: crispy prawns, Jabugo ham, Foie Gras terrine, pequillos salad, houmos, seared tuna and roasted scallops. And we both had the same Main: Cornish lamb rump, brazed lamb shoulder samossa, butternut squash, star anis jus. As for the dessert, we shared a selection of different miniature desserts.
